Michael Walker appointed as a Deputy District Judge - Feb 2024
Michael Walker has a busy civil practice and regularly accepts instructions in general civil law matters but he has particular experience in property, commercial, professional negligence and personal injury.
Prior to joining Chambers Michael worked in the professional disciplinary department of a top London Solicitors firm. He also spent six months working in The Hague at the Special Court for Sierra Leone working on the trial of Charles Taylor, the ex-Liberian president, who was charged with war crimes and crimes against humanity.
Michael has been an active supporter of pro-bono work and volunteered at the Fulham Legal Advice Centre for a number of years.
Property, Landlord & TenantMichael deals with a wide range of property disputes. He regularly acts in Landlord and Tenant matters including service charge disputes, enfranchisement and dilapidation claims. He regularly appears before the county court and First Tier Tribunal. Michael also has experience of prosecutions under the Landlord and Tenant Act before the criminal courts.
Michael regularly acts for landlords and tenants in residential possession proceedings and has experience of possession proceedings involving social housing and the impact of the Human Rights Act. He has particular specialism in dealing with cases of anti-social behaviour dealing with injunctions possession hearings and committal proceedings. Michael also regularly deals and has experience of succession cases for local authorities.
Michael regularly acts for parties in TOLATA proceedings.

Michael deals with breach of contract claims. In particular, Michael has experience in preparing and defending claims relating to the recruitment industry
Prior to coming to the Bar, Michael was employed as a tribunal representative for a London based legal charity. Michael dealt with and continues to undertake work in all areas of employment law including discrimination.
Michael has experience acting for both Claimants and Respondents in both the Tribunal and the Courts.
Selected Cases
- Successfully acting for a local authority in discrimination and constructive dismissal proceedings;
- Acting for a CEO in a claim relating to deduction of a discretionary bonus, constructive dismissal and sex discrimination;
- Dealing with various Claims involving pregnancy related discrimination;
- Successfully acting for a claimant in a sexual harassment claim; and
- Successfully dealing with claims for numerous claimants who were not being paid the national minimum wage by their employer.
Michael has a busy Personal Injury practice and regularly acts for both Claimants and Defendants and deals with a wide range of Personal Injury cases both on the fast and multi–track. Michael regularly drafts advice and pleadings in all personal injury matters and is praised for his clear and concise drafting.
Michael is frequently instructed in professional negligence cases involving various disciplines, principally concerning estate agents, builders and accountants.
