1COR has a dedicated team of barristers specialising in all areas of Animal Law including criminal prosecutions, judicial review claims and other civil or family law matters where issues concerning animals arise. Our barristers are also regularly instructed by animal rights and welfare NGOs to advise on a range of legal issues, including the interpretation and enforcement of existing legislation, tortious liability and strategic litigation.

At 1COR we understand that Animal Law touches on all practice areas and our barristers draw on a wealth of experience from across the legal spectrum including crime, civil, family and public law, and use their expertise and skills to advance the interests of animals in whichever legal context they arise.

In particular, the Animal Law team has experience in the following:

  • Criminal prosecutions on behalf of the RSPCA, local authorities and NGOs
  • Licensing issues including breeding and boarding establishments
  • Advising NGOs in relation to judicial review proceedings, charity compliance and potential criminal and civil liabilities
  • Public law matters including the interpretation of current animal protection legislation and drafting proposed amendments
