The Nuffield Family Justice Observatory have produced a document about the work of a Quality Circle established in Sussex by Nicola McGeown, the Principal Social Worker of East Sussex and Barrister, Martin Downs.

The paper is to be found here.

Martin Downs said, “The Nuffield Observatory have been really generous with their time and very encouraging of the work of the Quality Circle. We would really like to work with them to promote decision making that is based on up to date authoritative research.

The Quality Circle is an autonomous group of social workers, experts, Cafcass Officers and lawyers established with the aim of bringing about beneficial change in the Family Justice System – starting in Sussex where it works under the umbrella of the energetic Family Justice Board co-chaired by Andrea Holtham of Cafcass and Adam Smith of 1 Crown Office Row. It has also had the support of local Judges led by HHJ Bedford.

The Nuffield Family Justice Observatory was established by the Nuffield Foundation to support the best possible decisions for children by improving the use of data and research evidence in the family justice system in England and Wales.
