Following a three week trial at Maidstone Crown Court, a jury has convicted an 18 year old man, Brandon Gurr, who, together with another (convicted of joint venture section 18 wounding with intent), launched a pre-meditated attack on a man in Gravesend. Armed with a knife, the victim, Neil Davies, was stabbed 9 times in a busy street in front of members of the public, including children, before the attackers fled to a nearby car which helped them escape.

Gurr denied attempting to murder Mr Davies but admitted wounding with intent. He denied perverting the course of justice for which he was also convicted.

Judge Charles Macdonald QC adjourned sentence for reports until 2 October but stated that “Significant custody obviously is inevitable.”
