A boy born at Singleton Hospital, Swansea, was left catastrophically injured in the first few days of his life. He now suffers from cerebral palsy, learning difficulties, developmental delay and epilepsy. His family sought damages from Abertawe Bro Morgannwg University Health Board, who admitted liability and agreed to a settlement with a capitalised value of over £18m.

He will receive a £5.1 million lump sum with index-linked and tax-free annual payments to cover care costs for the rest of his life. This settlement was approved by Mrs Justice Lambert sitting in the High Court on Thursday 11th October 2018.
