In chambers it is important to us to ensure that our members and staff are supported and encourage to develop their skills. 1COR utilise LifeWorks to provide extensive external resources to support mental, physical, financial and social well being. We understand the financial pressures felt by junior tenants in the early stages of their career so support our most junior tenants through the provision of interest-free loans and the waiver of chambers’ contribution and rent payments.

We have a formal Mentoring scheme in place which allows members to either seek one-on-one mentoring or act as mentors to a less senior or experienced mentee, with training provided to mentors to manage expectations, busy workloads and ensure that each person achieves their objectives. Available to all members and staff are our internal training sessions and seminars on pertinent topics such as Cyber Awareness, Advocacy Skills or Workload Management. In addition, we have an informal pupillage ‘buddy’ scheme which always aim to ensure our pupils and junior tenants are able to support themselves and build their practice through financial assistance, professional relationships and development meetings.

We regularly hold Chambers Tea, which allows members to relax and catch up outside of the usual work pressures. Milestones, charitable endeavors and achievements, whether professional or personal, are recognised for all members and staff by 1COR. Whether it is a new addition to the family, running a marathon or being appointed to a new position or panel, we like to recognise our members and staffs’ achievements, and be there each step of the way.
