The Shropshire coroner has concluded that Charlotte Foster, 23, died of the untreated side effects of the combined oral contraceptive pill. She suffered a cardiac arrest at work and brain damage five months after starting to take the pill.

Giving a narrative conclusion, the Coroner said Foster had presented to her GP with the symptoms of pulmonary embolism, but was diagnosed with back pain and died from the untreated side effects of the combined oral contraceptive pill.

Shaheen Rahman represented Charlotte’s family at the inquest, instructed by Suzanne White of Leigh Day & Co.
