Friday 22 May 2015 saw the launch in the UK of CrowdJustice, a crowd funding platform for public interest litigation. The launch case is Torres v BP & Others. Claire McGregor is representing Mr Gilberto Torres, a former trade union leader, who is suing BP in the UK for human rights and other violations which he alleges took place in Colombia. His case has been featured with a film and article in the Guardian newspaper. This is the first case against a multinational accused of human rights violations abroad to be funded in this innovative way.
