Oliver Sanders acted for the Justice Secretary and HMP Frankland in this judicial review brought by a male-to-female transsexual prisoner. The claimant, Kimberley-Jade Green, formerly known as Craig Hudson, is serving a life sentence for murdering her wife, Rachel Hudson. She challenged the prison’s refusal to allow her access to a wig, tights, prosthetic breasts and a prosthetic vagina and made other complaints about the availability and use of female clothing and other items.

Following a hearing in October 2013, His Honour Judge Jeremy Richardson QC dismissed the claim, holding that the relevant restrictions were justified on security grounds and did not entail discrimination contrary to the Equality Act 2010.
