Robert Kellar QC has a broad civil, regulatory and public law practice which encompasses: clinical negligence, professional discipline and regulation, judicial review and human rights, healthcare, personal injury, inquests and employment law.
He is has been recommended by Chambers & Partners and the Legal 500 for many years as a leading practitioner.
In clinical negligence both claimants and defendants instruct him in all types of case. He acts for both individuals and healthcare institutions. He has particular experience in complex, multi-party and high value litigation. He was recently instructed in the Ian Paterson Group Litigation.
Robert acts for healthcare and other professionals in cases before regulatory and disciplinary tribunals He is also instructed in judicial reviews and appeals to the High Court. He recently appeared in a successful appeal to the Court of Appeal in Raychaudhuri v. GMC (dishonesty – healthcare).
Robert has extensive experience in public, administrative law and human rights law. He acts for both Claimants and Defendants. Previously a member of the Attorney General’s A-Panel, he is instructed by government departments in the High Court and Court of Appeal. He has a particular interest in cases involving healthcare and immigration matters.
Robert is recognised as a leading practitioner in personal injury law. He is instructed by both claimants and defendants, including by major Government Departments. He has experience in all types of personal injury claims, including road traffic cases and accidents at work. Robert is also instructed in cases involving allegations of historic sexual abuse. He was junior counsel for the claimants in Various Claimants v. Barclays Bank (vicarious liability of Bank for sexual abuse by GP).
Robert acts for both claimants and respondents, including a range of government departments, in the Employment Tribunal and in the EAT. He has particular experience in unfair dismissal and all types of discrimination and victimisation claims. He is also instructed to act on behalf of employees, particularly healthcare professionals, in disciplinary hearings.View full profile »
