Jake Armes joins 1COR as a pupil for his second six on secondment from HMRC. His first six has been spent working within the Enforcement and Insolvency team at HMRC with a caseload focused around POCA and insolvency work. For his second six, he will gain experience in related areas of chambers work with his pupil supervisors Natasha Barnes and Isabel McArdle.
Prior to joining HMRC, Jake spent five years working for the Bar Standards Board, primarily within the Professional Conduct Department. This included professional discipline casework, project managing the implementation of the civil standard of proof for professional misconduct proceedings involving barristers, the implementation of a casework triage team, and the development and establishment of a panel based Independent Decision-Making Body to replace the existing Professional Conduct Committee. Before that he worked in NHS clinical governance and contract management.
