Inquests

Gideon regularly represents bereaved families, doctors, government departments and other interested persons at inquests. He has extensive and broad experience covering inquests dealing with medical care, deaths in custody and following police contact, mental health issues and road traffic deaths.

  • Representing the Department of Health and Social Care in the inquests into the deaths of the patients of Ian Paterson
  • Representing the Metropolitan Police in the inquest into the death of AK
  • Junior counsel for the Metropolitan Police in the inquests into the deaths of the victims of serial killer Stephen Port
  • Junior counsel to the Coroner in the Inquests into the Birmingham Pub Bombings (1974). He appeared in the Court of Appeal in the associated judicial review, Coroner for the Birmingham Inquests (1974) v Hambleton and others[2018] EWCA Civ 2081.
