Inquests

Gideon regularly represents bereaved families, doctors, government departments and other interested persons at inquests. He has extensive and broad experience covering inquests dealing with medical care, deaths in custody, mental health issues and road traffic deaths.

He also has experience in police-related inquests. He was instructed as junior counsel for the Metropolitan Police in the inquests into the deaths of the victims of serial killer Stephen Port, and was instructed as junior counsel to the Coroner in the Inquests into the Birmingham Pub Bombings (1974). He appeared in the Court of Appeal in the associated judicial review, Coroner for the Birmingham Inquests (1974) v Hambleton and others [2018] EWCA Civ 2081.
