We are delighted to welcome Josephine Lunnon and Samuel Talalay as full tenants from the 1st October. Josephine and Samuel are joining 1COR after successfully completing their pupillages with us and are both accepting instruction in all of Chambers’ practice areas.
During pupillage, Josephine gained experience across a wide range of Chambers’ practice areas, including public law, immigration, clinical negligence and personal injury, human rights, inquests, data, and tax law. Prior to joining Chambers, Josephine worked as a Judicial Assistant in the Court of Appeal, where she assisted Lord and Lady Justices with research and drafting, and attended the hearings of a wide range of appeals, including clinical negligence, public law, and commercial cases. Josephine has previously volunteered with Amicus ALJ, Schools Consent Project, Student Action for Refugees and the Hate Crime Unit. Alongside her studies and a part-time role in education, Josephine volunteered as a welfare benefits advisor at Brixton Advice Centre, where she advised and represented clients on their PIP claims and appeals.
During pupillage, Samuel gained invaluable experience in public law, notably in immigration, where he worked on judicial review proceedings and appeals to the First-tier Tribunal. He also gained experience in extradition, constitutional law (particularly on the subject of parliamentary privilege), human rights law, tax, inquests, data protection, clinical negligence, personal injury, employment law, and child sexual abuse cases. Before pupillage, Samuel worked at the Ministry of Justice, where he coordinated all departmental parliamentary business (bar primary legislation), before moving into a policy role focusing on the constitutional limits on the operational powers of the Lord Chancellor. Samuel previously spent 16 months seconded to the Ecole nationale d’administration in Strasbourg, during which time he studied alongside French senior civil servants and spent four months working at the European Court of Human Rights.
If you would like to discuss a new case for either Josephine or Samuel, or for any other queries, please do contact the clerks here.
