Alasdair Henderson is currently representing David Campanale in a discrimination claim against the Liberal Democrats. Mr Campanale was selected as the Prospective Parliamentary Candidate for Sutton and Cheam constituency for the 2024 General Election, only to be de-selected after some members of his local party took against him because of his Christian faith. His attempts to deal with the dispute through internal party mechanisms did not lead to resolution, and so he brought proceedings under the Equality Act 2010. The Liberal Democrats have now admitted his claim in its entirety, including acts of direct and indirect discrimination because of religion or belief, victimisation and breach of contract. A court hearing to deal with assessment of damages is awaited.
