The UCPI recommenced hearings yesterday. The current phase of hearings will consider the work of the Special Demonstration Squad (or Special Duties Section) 1993-2000, and hear from former undercover officers along with numerous people affected by their deployments.
This phase of hearings will run until mid December 2025. Further hearings are planned for 2026.
Peter Skelton KC, Amy Mannion KC and Darragh Coffey act for the Commissioner of the Metropolitan Police Service. Oliver Sanders KC acts for a group of former undercover officers and managers, known for the purposes of the Inquiry as the “Designated Lawyer Group”. Neil Sheldon KC acts for the Home Secretary. Angus McCullough KC acts for “S”, the former wife of a UCO.
