Amy Mannion KC successful for Secretary of State for the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs in judicial review concerning animal welfare.
The case concerned the power to prosecute for offences under the Welfare of Animals at the Time of Killing Regulations 2015. The Secretary of State (with the CPS and FSA) argued successfully that the CPS had power to prosecute these matters, deriving from an assignment of powers to the DPP made by the Attorney General.
