Amelia Williams recently represented the Respondent in a 15 day hearing in the Employment Tribunal. The Claimant brought claims of direct disability discrimination, harassment, unfavourable treatment because of something arising in consequence of disability (a s.15 claim), failure to make reasonable adjustments and victimisation. Amelia cross examined the Claimant over 4 days. Each of the claims were found to be not well-founded and were dismissed.

The judgment is available here and is a stark reminder that an allegation that bad things have happened in the workplace is not sufficient for a discrimination claim; there must be a link between the conduct complained of and the disabilities relied upon by the individual.

Amelia was instructed by Amanda Applegate and Carrie McLean at TLT LLP.
