After an incredible 41 years at 1 Crown Office Row, we bid a fond farewell to our Senior Clerk, Matthew Phipps, upon his retirement.
Matt began his journey with Chambers in October 1983 as a junior clerk and moved to Senior Clerk in 1999. Over the years, he has been a driving force behind the growth and success of 1COR, helping it evolve into a set of over 80 members in London, including 24 silks.
Celebrated for his exceptional leadership, Matt was described by Legal 500 as offering “inimitable guidance” and being a “first-rate” senior clerk whose clerks’ room is “definitely the benchmark for other sets.”
Matt will be greatly missed by barristers, clerks, clients, and staff alike. We extend our heartfelt gratitude for his service and dedication over the past four decades. We wish Matt a very happy retirement!
