Peter Skelton KC, Lois Williams and Gideon Barth acted as Counsel to the Inquiry in the Accountability and Reparations Module of the Independent Inquiry into Child Sexual Abuse (IICSA). Their work led directly to the Inquiry’s recommendation in its 2022 Report that the statutory three-year limitation period for claims of child sexual abuse be scrapped – thereby removing a longstanding barrier to justice for victims and survivors.
Today the Government finally announced that it would be seeking to change the law in line with IICSA’s recommendation. Further information can be found on the government website here.
