Angus McCullough KC appears in the High Court this week in a judicial review claim. He acts on behalf of three men who are lead claimants in this challenge arising from the Government’s controversial use of Wethersfield as a site to accommodate hundreds of asylum-seekers. Last July, this ex-MoD site began receiving asylum-seekers.  The claimants argue that the Home Office has failed to adopt adequate procedures for screening and monitoring vulnerabilities that made them unsuitable for accommodation on a large scale former military site.  The outcome will potentially affect large numbers of claims stayed behind this lead case.

Counsel appearing for the Home Secretary, resisting the claim, include David Manknell KC and Edward Waldegrave, instructed by the Government Legal Department.

Angus is instructed by Deighton Pierce Glynn and Gold Jennings and is leading a team of barristers on this case, appearing with Shu Shin Luh and Sarah Dobbie of Doughty Street Chambers, and Ben Amunwa of 3 Paper Buildings.
