Jasper Gold recently appeared for the family in the inquest touching the death of Edith Alden, known as Bunny. Bunny was being cared for at a residential home, but had a fall which led to her death after being left to walk unsupervised in a paved outdoor area. The care home maintained that she had been appropriately supervised.

The Senior Coroner for Norfolk found that the staff apparently supervising Bunny may as well not have been there, and that her care plan was unclear and had not been complied with. She found that Bunny’s death had been contributed to by Neglect, and made a wide-ranging prevention of future deaths report covering a number of the family’s concerns including staffing levels, supervision of residents, and training. She also wrote to the CQC outlining her concerns.

Jonathan Metzer represented the family at the pre-inquest review hearings. Jasper and Jonathan were instructed by Jenny Fraser of Fosters Solicitors.
