Andrew Kennedy QC recently successfully represented a dentist at a hearing before the General Dental Council (GDC). The dentist was charged with failing to obtain informed consent from the patient, another dentist. The case raised interesting questions about the nature and extent of information that should be provided to a patient in such circumstances. The allegations concerning the failure to obtain informed consent were found not proved and the dentist maintained his good record.
