Duncan Fairgrieve contributed a Letter to the editor of The Times, co-signed by Prof. Geraint Howells and Prof. Søren Holm (both of the School of Social Sciences, University of Manchester), Dr Samantha Vanderslott  (University of Oxford) and Dr Claas Kirchhelle (University College Dublin; Oxford Martin School, University of Oxford) concerning vaccine safety and  critical of the UK Government’s recent decision to extend the Vaccine Damage Payments Scheme in respect of COVID-19 vaccines. In this letter, it was argued that a bespoke scheme, in line with the recommendations of the Cumberlege Review, would have been the better way forward.
