A girl born at Singleton Hospital, Swansea, was left catastrophically injured as a result of a delay in her delivery. She now suffers from cerebral palsy, learning difficulties and developmental delay. Her family sought damages from Swansea Bay University Health Board, who admitted liability and agreed to a settlement with a capitalised value of over £11m. She will receive a £4 million lump sum with index-linked and tax-free annual payments to cover care costs for the rest of her life. This settlement was approved by Mrs Justice Tipples sitting in the High Court on Friday 3rd April 2020.
