1COR were pleased to be nominated for two awards; ‘Managing Diverse Talent’ and ‘Chambers Diversity & Inclusion Initiative of the Year’ at the UK Diversity Legal Awards 2019 held last night. The awards, founded by the Black Solicitors Network (BSN) are held to showcase and celebrate the excellent work being done by individuals, teams and organisations to engender greater diversity in the legal profession.

We were delighted to be awarded ‘Chambers Diversity & Inclusion Initiative of the Year’, which was received by Suzanne Lambert , a core member of our Equality & Diversity member, and Jo Moore, our Head of Outreach.

The award was given in recognition of all our efforts to widen access to the Bar through our outreach events with Inner Temple, the Bar Council and more organisations as well as our assessed mini-pupillage aimed at students from non-traditional backgrounds. We work closely with the Sutton Trust and, for the first time this year, Jo Moore arranged for students on their Pathways to Law programme to give them a glimpse into everyday life at the bar (more here). Listen to Jo Moore, Emma-Louise Fenelon and Laura Bruce discuss widening access with the Sutton Trust on Law Pod UK here.

Thank you for the recognition and a lovely evening celebrating the incredible work done by individuals, firms and chambers to promote equality, diversity and inclusion!
