The Environmental Law Foundation (ELF) was approached by the Yorkshire Wildlife Trust (YWT) regarding a threat posed to Askham Bog, a Site of Special Scientific Interest. This case ties into the wider fragmentation of natural sites, which then threatens our native flora and fauna.

An adjacent housing development proposal was unanimously refused on several grounds, including the impact on this habitat. YWT led the campaign against this development with 7000 people objecting, including Sir David Attenborough.

This refusal has been appealed and a 12 day planning inquiry will take place in November. ELF have instructed Emma-Louise Fenelon and Darragh Coffey to represent the YWT.
