The inquest into the death of 5 year-old Alex Malcolm, who was was beaten to death by his mother’s boyfriend for losing a trainer in a park, has commenced. The offender had a history of violence, including against previous partners, and had recently been released from prison. He was convicted of murder, and sentenced to life in jail with a minimum of 21 years.

The inquest will explore child safeguarding and disclosure by relevant agencies. David Manknell represents the National Probation Service (NPS) at this ongoing inquest.
