In what is thought to be the first case of its kind, Justin Levinson was instructed by Emma Crowther, Irwin Mitchell, to represent the claimants in a sexual assault claim against taxi-hailing app Uber.

Uber has agreed to a five figure settlement for two women who were allegedly sexually assaulted by a driver in two separate incidents. The two women were allegedly attacked a week apart in Leeds in December 2015. The incidents were individually reported to West Yorkshire Police. Uber investigated both reports.

The case was complicated by the fact that the driver was using his brother’s identity whilst his brother was in Pakistan. He was fined and his private hire license revoked but, due to the false identities, no criminal charges were brought.
