Neil Sheldon QC acts for the Secretary of State for the Home Department in the inquests into the deaths arising from the terror attacks in London Bridge and Borough Market on 3rd June 2017. The Chief Coroner, His Honour Judge Mark Lucraft QC, is conducting the Inquests.
8 people died on 3rd June 2017 when 3 attackers drove a van into pedestrians on the bridge, before exiting the vehicle and continuing their attack with knives. The victims were Christine Archibald, Xavier Thomas, Alexandre Pigeard, Sara Zelenak, Kirsty Boden, Sebastien Belanger, James McMullan, and Ignacio Echeverria.
The Inquests into the deaths of the victims, began on Tuesday 7th May 2019, and are expected to last 8 weeks. They will be followed by separate Inquests into the deaths of the 3 attackers, in which Neil is also instructed on behalf of the Home Secretary.
