Since Martin Forde QC’s appointment as independent adviser to the Home Office, in May of this year, in respect of the proposed Windrush Compensation Scheme, he has received many direct appeals for assistance from those undergoing financial hardship as a result of difficulties with their immigration status.
Today the Home Office published their policy setting out circumstances when urgent and exceptional circumstances could allow for payments or assistance can be applied for prior to the opening of the Windrush Compensation Scheme.
