This campaign focuses on the experiences of people at the Bar with non-traditional backgrounds to encourage aspiring barristers from all walks of life, highlight the Bar’s aim to widen access and unify the efforts of individual chambers, Inns, barristers and organisations. Social Mobility Advocates work to promote diversity in terms of non-traditional backgrounds and social mobility within the profession. As part of this initiative, the Bar Council has interviewed them about their experiences at the Bar.
Sarabjit Singh QC, former head of outreach, has been integral to 1COR’s commitment to equality & diversity and the success of the 1COR Assessed Mini-Pupillage. This is aimed at providing socio-economically disadvantaged applicants the chance to gain experience as a mini-pupil and guarantees an interview for pupillage.
