A series of legal challenges have been made by local campaign groups and a young resident for a judicial review of Northamptonshire County Council’s decision to close 21 libraries. These closures would mean that there would be one library per 60,000 residents, which would seriously impact the local community. This is of significant interest as the culture secretary, Matt Hancock, is considering a government inquiry following a formal complaint made by CILIP, the Library and Information Association.
