Sydney Chawatama’s commitment and engagement with members has led to him being appointed Co-Vice Chair of the Law Reform Committee of the Bar Council, effective in January 2018. The committee develop and consider proposals for law reform and to submit views to the Government and others where appropriate.
The committee also organise the annual essay competition to foster interest from aspiring barristers in law reform. The cash prize is generously sponsored by the Bar Council Scholarship Trust. Read more about their work here.
