Judicial review proceedings were issued to challenge a decision to revoke the migrant sponsorship licence of a large chain of beauty clinics. The licence had been revoked on the basis of concerns that sponsorship certificates were being issued in circumstances where there was no genuine vacancy to be filled.

Singhar Beauty Clinic Limited v Secretary of State for the Home Department [2016] EWHC 2703 (Admin) involved consideration of procedural and substantive fairness, alleged material errors of fact, the provision of reasons and rationality.

In a particularly satisfying twist, the court placed particular reliance on principles of law articulated by another past member of chambers, now Mr Justice Neil Garnham, when he was sitting as Deputy High Court Judge.
