PIcARBS, the Personal Injury claims Arbitration Service, is an arbitration institute that has been set up specifically to resolve personal injury and clinical negligence disputes, using arbitration. Arbitration has long been adopted as an effective means of dispute resolution in many commercial and building disputes, with recognised advantages over court proceedings.
The disadvantages of traditional civil litigation, including the substantial rise in court fees, make arbitration an increasingly attractive alternative for personal injury and clinical negligence claims which have traditionally not used arbitration. PIcARBS has been set up to provide an efficient and flexible process, including a system of electronic filing of documents, which gives the parties greater control in achieving a binding determination of their dispute, with the option of early neutral evaluation of the claim.
