Michael Deacon, acted in a jury inquest for the family of Richard Laco, who tragically died in November 2013 while working on the construction of the Francis Crick Institute in Central London. Mr Laco died when a large steel staircase landing fell loose and struck him during its attempted installation.

At the end of the five-day long inquest, the jury returned a narrative verdict identifying failures by the relevant sub-contractor and principal contractor to plan, manage and monitor the construction works adequately. It is understood that the coroner will in due course issue a Regulation 28 Report identifying ways in which future deaths might be prevented.
