Adam Wagner represented Scott Calder in the Greater Manchester Police’s (‘GMP’) unsuccessful attempt to obtain an Injunction to Prevent Gang-Related Violence against him on the basis of police intelligence and the lyrics of Mr Calder’s YouTube Grime Rap videos.

The application failed after a contested hearing on 17 July 2014. On 14 January 2015, Mr Justice Blake dismissed the GMP’s appeal to the High Court, and in doing so set out guidance on the purpose and ambit of the IPGV legislation. The full judgment has not yet been released

The case has been covered in the media, including in The Times here. A summary of the ex tempore judgment has been posted on the UK Human Rights Blog here.

Adam was instructed by David McCorkle of Duncan Lewis solicitors.
