Iain O’Donnell secured convictions against a Defendant who was keeping horses and dogs in what were described by two of the four instructed expert veterinary surgeons as the worst conditions they had ever experienced.

Proceedings were brought against the Defendant by the RSPCA under sections 4 and 9 of the Animal Welfare Act 2006. Guilty pleas were obtained during the course of the first day of trial, following which the Defendant was sentenced to a 12-month community penalty, a 12-month disqualification order and a costs order of in excess of £27,000.

The case was widely reported in the local press and covered by the Daily Mail.
