We have an exceptional depth of experience in matters relating to capacity, the best interests of protected persons and Deprivation of Liberty (DOLS) cases.

Our members regularly appear on behalf of local authorities and persons lacking capacity (often instructed by the Official Solicitor) as well as other family members in health and welfare matters in the Court of Protection.

Following the Cheshire West decision in the Supreme Court, our team has developed a considerable expertise in the area of Deprivation of Liberty and have lectured on the implications of that decision to solicitors and other professionals in the field.

In support of this practice area, we have a 24-hour emergency service to address urgent matters.
