1COR welcomes Katherine Bates as a new tenant - Oct 2025
Katherine joined chambers as a tenant in October 2025 after completing pupillage. During pupillage, she was supervised by Michael Walker and Matthew Withers.
During pupillage Katherine gained experience in all the core areas of Chambers’ civil expertise and accepts instructions in general civil law matters.
Katherine appears regularly in court and has been instructed in small claims, fast track trials and procedural hearings. Katherine also accepts instructions to advise and draft statements of case in a range of civil matters.
Personal InjuryKatherine has experience acting for both Claimants and Defendants in Small Claims, as well as Stage 3 hearings, infant approval hearings and credit hire. Katherine has acted for the Defendant in an Official Injury Claim (OIC) hearings.
Katherine has gained experience in landlord and tenant matters, namely possession claims. Katherine has also gained experience in boundary dispute, having successfully secured an interim Party Wall injunction.
Katherine accepts instructions in commercial disputes.
Katherine has successfully represented a Claimant at a fast track trial in a breach of contract action.
Katherine has advised a beneficiary on the interpretation of a will with a complex trust structure and welcomes further instructions in this area.
During pupillage Katherine advised an employee undergoing internal disciplinary proceedings. Katherine welcomes further instructions in all areas of employment law.
Katherine has experience appearing in the Magistrates’ Court in civil applications brought by the Police for Domestic Violence Protections Orders and breaches thereof.
