James King-Smith was the Head of One Crown Office Row’s Brighton Annexe from October 2002 to October 2016. His practice has evolved over the years from that of a general common lawyer to that of a highly regarded specialist in financial remedy and financial provision claims.
Over the years James has also represented both claimants and defendants on many occasions in disputes over costs arising from both civil and family cases.
He is also a civil and commercial mediator.
Financial RemediesOne of his highest profile cases involved representing the wife of one of the largest ever UK lottery winners to date in her claims for financial relief on divorce. He complements this area of work by dealing with Trusts of Land, Inheritance Act claims and all aspects of enforcement and contempt proceedings.
Due to his considerable expertise in dealing with Financial Remedy and Financial Provision claims he is able to provide comprehensive advice when instructed in Professional Negligence claims which arise from these areas of practice.
