Gavin Howe completed a common law pupillage with Crown Office Row in 2004 and, as a result, he has developed a diverse practice on the South Eastern circuit. Gavin predominantly practises in the field of child protection work and financial remedy proceedings. He is regularly instructed by local authorities, by parents, and by Children’s Guardians.
Gavin is experienced in the area of matrimonial finance having started his practice in this area in 2005, he is regularly instructed in high value matrimonial proceedings for financial remedies pursuant to Matrimonial Causes Act 1973, Schedule 1 Children Act 1989.
Gavin prides himself on providing clear and concise legal advice that is proportionate to the facts of the case. He is dedicated to achieving his client’s objectives through his effective negotiation and advocacy skills.
In 2013 Gavin qualified as a registered lawyer with the FA (Football Association) and represents professional footballers in all areas of contract negotiation and drafting.
Children (Public Law)Gavin represents local authorities, parents, grandparents, children, interveners and guardians, which ensures he has a rounded understanding of the issues and concerns of all parties. Gavin has broad experience in public law cases involving injuries to children, sexual abuse, physical abuse and neglect.
Gavin undertakes cases in all areas of private law children cases. He has particular expertise in parental hostility and alienation, domestic violence and cases with injunctive relief.
Gavin is an experienced Matrimonial Counsel who also covers all aspects of family and co-habitation law, in particular financial remedy proceedings and TOLATA related claims.
Gavin accepts instructions in injunctive proceedings, often involving serious domestic violence and abuse. He has appeared in proceedings concerning Non-Molestation and Occupation.
Gavin has a personal interest in major development projects and is familiar with all forms of construction contracts with a particular emphasis on JCT contract drafting and negotiation.
