David enjoyed a successful common law practice, with a particular focus on civil disputes and financial remedies, before relocating to the Cayman Islands in 2019. Between 2019 and 2024, David practised as an attorney in the Cayman Islands and was Counsel in the Dispute Resolution team of a leading offshore law firm. David returned to the UK in 2024 and continues to work on complex, cross-border offshore litigation as a Consultant.

David is passionate about non-human animal rights and has a keen interest in animal law. David is committed to furthering the animal rights cause through the law, and using the law to protect and enhance the welfare of non-human animals. He is happy to take instructions in these areas, and will consider acting on a pro bono basis in appropriate cases. David has experience prosecuting both RSPCA and local authority Animal Welfare Act cases, and collaborating with non-profits on animal law related projects. 

During his time in the Cayman Islands, David was the President of the board of directors of the Cayman Islands Humane Society, gaining firsthand experience of working with an NGO to address a wide range of animal rights and welfare issues, including: lobbying government; using judicial review as a means to protect animal welfare; and dealing with legal, governance and operational matters. 

David has a reputation as an outstanding lawyer (Legal 500 2024) who is adept at managing fast paced and hard fought litigation, and bringing a calm, analytical and strategic approach to achieve success for his clients. Appearing in Court on a regular basis throughout his career at the Bar, David is a skilled advocate, with extensive experience at all stages of the litigation process, including substantial trial advocacy.

David is known for his outstanding client care skills, with his friendly but no-nonsense approach being commended by both lay and professional clients. David prides himself on helping clients to find practical solutions to disputes, and is skilled using novel legal approaches to achieve desired outcomes.

David has co-authored the Cayman Islands chapter of the Legal 500 Comparative Guide to Litigation. He previously sat on the Recovery and Insolvency Specialists (RISA) Education Committee, helping to further specialist insolvency education for the profession in the Cayman Islands. David acted as a pro-bono lecturer at the Truman Bodden Law School in the Cayman Islands, teaching the client interviewing module on the Professional Practice Course from 2020-2024.
