Edward Hand prosecutes woman who spat and coughed at police officers and a nurse threatening to infect them with Covid 19. Sarah Clarkson-Rose (42yrs) had previously pleaded guilty to 3 charges of assaulting emergency workers on 11th and 12th May 2020 at Eastbourne hospital. Miss Clarkson-Rose had been arrested for unrelated matters and spat at one officer before coughing towards a nurse and another officer saying that she had Covid and that she wanted them to catch it.
Edward Hand prosecuted her for a sentencing hearing at Lewes Crown Court on 10th June 2020. HHJ Waddicor described her conduct as shameful and disgusting. She was sentenced to 6 months immediate imprisonment concurrent on each charge.
