Sophie Evans, instructed by the RSPCA, secured the conviction of a man accused of causing unnecessary suffering to numerous dogs at a puppy farm in Kent.
The RSPCA attended the premises in February 2018 following reports from purchasers of puppies. The purchasers reported that within days and sometimes even hours of purchase, the puppies had shown signs of severe illness and had died. When the RSPCA attended the premises they found dogs and puppies kept in unsuitable environments, with no disease control in place. A number of dogs were found in a suffering state, with untreated health conditions.
The trial, which took place at Folkestone Magistrates’ Court over a period of 4 days, involved the evidence and cross-examination of expert veterinary witnesses.
