Julie Stather, author of the Secure Accommodation Handbook, appeared in this case in which an application was made to hold a child who was a ward of court in secure accommodation. The child had been missing for six months and had only returned to local authority care after a recovery order and location order had been made.
The local authority applied for an order for just two weeks on the basis that the court should have a frequent and detailed oversight of the case given that the child was a ward of court.
