Vanessa Long and David Lewis-Hall were invited to judge the first round of the Oxford University Press National Mooting Competition at the University of Brighton at the end of November. Brighton were pitted against the University of Kent competing for entry to the second round of this prestigious annual competition. The students were excellently prepared and responded to persistent interventions from the bench with eloquence and good humour. Vanessa and David were left with the incredibly difficult decision as to who to name the winners and, whilst ultimately Kent progressed to the next round, there were merely a few points in it.

Following the moot Vanessa and David held a Q&A sessions with the students and audience on advocacy and careers at the bar. Thanks go to the University of Brighton for organising a excellent event.
