Catriona Murdoch represents the family at the pre-inquest review at an Article 2 ECHR inquest into death of young man in Derbyshire.

The Article 2 Middleton inquiry will sit with a jury for four weeks exploring the tragic death of a young man following his contact with, and treatment by, Derbyshire Constabulary. The young man was a significant witness in the double murder inquiry of his mother and grandmother and later was questioned relating to separate charges entirely distinct from the murder inquiry. The effect of the Derbyshire Constabulary’s treatment of the young man will be explored by the jury who will assess the causative link between his treatment and his suicide 24 hours later. Nine police witnesses, two experts and other properly interested persons will be called over the four week inquest scheduled for early 2019 in Chesterfield before HM Senior Coroner Dr Hunter.

Catriona Murdoch is instructed by Matthew Gold Solicitors, heavyweights in the field of public law and inquests.
