Kirsten Japp (formerly of Guildford Chambers) has joined Crown Office Row, Brighton, the long established Brighton Annexe of 1 Crown Office Row in London. This brings the total membership to 49 barristers.
Kirsten was called to the Bar in 2014 and specialises in all aspects of family (Children Act) and financial remedies. As such, she makes an excellent fit with Crown Office Row’s highly regarded Family and Financial Remedies teams. She is already well known to many of our existing clients, took her law degree at the University of Surrey and is a local Sussex resident.
In her growing family practice, Kirsten has experience in a wide range of Public and Private Children Act matters.
In Public Law, Kirsten has acted for parents, guardians and Local Authorities including being instructed in a High Court case for a mother who was lacking in mental capacity which resulted in the involvement of the Official Solicitor.
Kirsten has been instructed in private law matters acting for alleged victims and perpetrators in cases involving an element of domestic violence and has appeared in multiple fact-finding hearings.
Kirsten has undertaken a range of finance matters from 1st Appointments through to final hearings including advising in a matter of enforcement by way of order for sale.
In her limited spare time Kirsten strives to challenge herself physically, she has not only completed a sprint triathlon but also trekked across the Sahara Desert over eight days to raise money for charity.
