Daniel Frier (led by Alan Kent QC) defended Ben Bamford in a murder trial at the Lewes Crown Court. Mr Bamford denied murdering Paul Jefferies in a sustained attack on 23rd February 2016.

Mr Bamford accepted that he had killed the victim but stated that at the time of doing so he had lost control. This partial defence was rejected by the jury who found him guilty of murder after a two-week trial. The victim was a high-ranking HMRC civil servant who had advised senior ministers on tax policy. He met Ben Bamford when he was 15 years old on the social media application Grindr.
